Blogging in the Rain

Quick notes from Beijing. We are safely inside the family center. It's pouring outside. We spent the morning at Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City, exiting just in time to find a cab and watch the rain begin in earnest. The Forbidden City is pretty amazing. I took tons of photos and I think there is a way that I can do a slide show on this blog, but I'm sharing a computer so I can't stay on too long.

The WSJ just took some movies of the gold medal winner sitting in here with us (Swimming, 800 meter relay). I don't think he pointed the camera in our direction so sadly, you will not see how lovely we look sitting here typing in our dried sweat outfits. If you just resign yourself to the fact that you are going to perspire like a pig, take it easy, drink plenty of water, and realize there is NO HURRY, then you can enjoy the sights (not to mention life in general).
I'm going to try to upload a couple of pix from my camera. I asked the internet cafe host if it was OK and he said "What I don't know... "

I panicked this morning because my phone suddenly went dead. I tried, with our lousy internet wireless at the hotel, to find some information online about how to reset it, and failed. When we arrived here, we ran into the Mikelson's again (Anna's parents) and her brother, Eric, fixed it for me. It has been our day-to-day lifeline to Margot.

Pix later, my time is up!

Julia! I loved reading your post about dinner the other nite. I was laughing outloud, hoping you were not glued to the toilet!
